ResNet World and Sabre Hospitality shake on deal!

Saahil Mehta, managing director of ResNet World and Brannon Winn, VP business development - EMEA at Sabre Hospitality Solutions, reviewed findings on two trends in the travel sector: smart phone penetration and the need for hotels to invest in Arabic websites.

Smartphone penetration is the highest in Saudi Arabia, Dubai and the Middle East and North Africa region with one-third of hotel bookings coming via tablets or smart phones.

In Saudi Arabia alone, half of the travel related enquiries come from mobile devices. In the GCC, half of the searches on desktops are done in Arabic and three-quarters of the searches on the smartphones are done in Arabic.

Many hoteliers in the region do not have Arabic websites or even if they do, they are not featuring a full-fledged Arabic booking engine. It follows that hotels risk driving the Arabic-speaking traveller to those competitors that do offer Arab content and mobile websites.

ResNet World - Revenue Specialist 

The primary responsibility of the Revenue Specialist, here-in referred to as the ‘RS‘, will be to maximize revenue opportunities for the hotels and/or apartments assigned to them by Resnet World management.  The RS will have a background in the hospitality industry with specific hands-on experience in relation to GDS and E-Commerce revenue management.  The RS will understand the specific needs of each of their properties and will manage their subsequent GDS and E-Commerce revenue streams at a micro-level.  The RS will answer to the Director of Revenue Development and the Managing Director.  Responsibilities of the RS will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  •      Bi-annual on-site participation in property sales meetings to understand the needs of the client
  • Effective communication with property management on an on-going basis
  • Resnet World back office training for property staff
  • Initial entry and as-needed updates of property information into Resnet World back office system
  • Updates to room inventories and rates as directed by property
  • On-going inventory and rate analysis for each property followed by recommendations to the property that will result in increased revenue
  • Management of ADS retail and merchant model agreements for each property
  • On-going ‘spot checking’ of ADS sites to ensure property is properly listed and is booking revenue
  • Market and competition analysis for each property through utilization of resources provided by Resnet World
  • Manage process for providing resolutions to system bugs and/or technology issues through ‘ticket’ issuance program
  • Assist with accounts receivable for each property
  • Mystery Shopper visits to each property as directed by Resnet World staff



The candidate must have a good knowledge of Synxis extranet.

Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai - More Travelers & Hotel Guests



Located in Jebel Ali and part of Dubai World Central, an "aviation city" that the government launched as a free economic zone, Al Maktoum International Airport is expected to become the world's largest airport upon completion.

Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air was the first airline to be welcomed at the new passenger terminal, and was greeted with a customary festive water salute.

Al Maktoum International Airport's two other launch carriers are Kuwait-based low-cost carrier Jazeera Airways and Bahrain's full-service Gulf Air, which also made its inaugural flight to the new airport on Sunday.

Hotels expectations for Room Bookings in 2014 went higher as more & more visitors will reach Dubai and will be looking for accommodation at this popular destination.
